Introducing The XX Factor
A new home for the builders & backers shaping the future of women’s health
When I started Tia in 2017, building in women’s health was a lonely journey. Women’s health was considered "niche.” Funding was abysmal. And competition rather than camaraderie was all-too-often the dominant mindset.
Fast forward to today, and the world has woken up. Yes, women’s health still faces a massive funding gap in both venture and research dollars, and a laundry list of legal and political battles that’s growing by the day under the current administration. But, we also have women’s healthcare unicorns, dedicated venture funds, and the attention of global leaders at the World Economic Forum.
Put simply, women’s health is no longer “niche.” It’s an undeniable moral, economic and market imperative — one we all have a role in advancing.
A curated dose of insights, analysis, and conversation on women’s health
The XX Factor is what I wanted but did not have while in the trenches building Tia — a dedicated space to unpack trends and ideas, and connect with the people shaping the future of women’s health. This is not another news digest. Expect bold insights, insider perspectives, and in-depth analysis on topics ranging from AI’s impact on women’s health to accelerating clinical trials and closing the reimbursement gap. You’ll hear from me and industry veterans alike across the public and private sectors, digital health and life sciences. My goal is to spark questions, challenge assumptions, and foster connections that help us all build smarter, faster, and with greater impact.
Why Me? Why Now?
I know firsthand the grind, challenges, and deep meaning that come with building in this space. I’ve faced no shortage of banging-your-head-against-a-wall moments, of I-want-to-shrivel-up-and-cry moments, and wow-that-patient-testimonial-makes-it-all-worth-it moments.
But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that no one builds alone — at least not successfully. The best insights, strategies, and breakthroughs happen when we share hard-won lessons, not hoard them.
Today, the women’s health category is at an inflection point. There are more founders, funders, scientists, and clinicians innovating in this space than ever before. Market momentum is real, but so are the silos.
To turn today’s excitement into lasting impact, we need collective action and a supportive community — more shared insights, help minimizing bumps in the road, and spotting of opportunities. There is no “winner takes all;” this problem and opportunity is bigger than any one of us.
So whether you're a seasoned entrepreneur, an investor looking to fund the next women’s healthcare unicorn, a scientist working to close the gender data gap, or are passionate about women's health and looking to break in to the space, I invite you to join The XX Factor.
